May I take this oppurtunity to ask DBians(you) a few reasons(valid) why you think Reservations are not fair in the modern indian society ?
I know many would say about education seats, job reservations etc , can you please also provide some stats(numerical figures) on how many people are actually affected by the reasons which you quote ? when compared to people All over the india who benefited from reservations?
Lot of information including stats is freely available on the web.
What is the best feasible solution that you can come up with to avoid unfairness( you think).

My dad works for South Central Railways , he along with his friends only had 3 promotions in their total career just because of existence of the reservation system. Meaning his experience and talent was never considered as a main factor for promotions , key factor has always been caste reservations , people who are eligible for reservation has always enjoyed more benefits than the likes of my dad and his friends from the so called "upper castes" and yet my dad is a strong supporter of reservations in government jobs and so am I.

at the time of independence there was a situation where lower castes were deprived of equality in the society and for their upliftment reservation system is introduced as per constitution for only intial 10-20 yrs.

but after learning history beyond our text books i reasoned & believed that ambedkar is a very progressive leader ( as mentioned above mcdonald's act...) and it is also a matter of fact whether we accept or not ambedkar is intellectual (medhaavi)
3.after some extreme financial crisis i was unable to read/perform as i used to be. this first time allowed me to understand the situation of a poor lower caste people people firsthand. your intellectual performance will not be the same when you do not have that family and financial security
