A Coimbatore based textile designer has completed designing 36 sarees non-stop for six hours on a computer in a bid to enter the Limca book of records. K J Mahesh Kumar began his feat on January 28 at 6.01 am in designing 36 saris and completed the task at 7 pm on 31 Jan, clocking 61 hours, seven hours more than what was stipulated by Limca.

Based on the theme Republic India, Mahesh Kumar designed 36 drawings of national leaders, Indian map and 24 elephants, during his attempt, according to sources in the elite group of organisations, of which Mahesh is a committee member. He also drew the famous Akshardham temple, with its architectural beauty. A printout of every design was taken, for being submitted to the Limca book of records.

Mahesh took seven breaks of 15 minutes, as permitted and made it a point not to speak during his attempt, so as not to waiver in concentration or lose energy, sources from the Limca book of records said. The designs would be auctioned or sold either to designers and or sari printers, the proceedings of which would be utilized for charity purpose by elite group, they said.
