Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner and actor Shah Rukh Khan has been banned by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) from entering the Wankhede Stadium for five years.
MCA president Vilasrao Deshmukh made the announcement at the end of a managing committee meeting on Friday.
Mr. Khan was involved in a spat at the stadium on Wednesday night, which was captured on camera by photographers. He allegedly assaulted a security guard and abused MCA officials in a drunken state.
“The managing committee of the MCA, at its meeting today [on Friday], has condemned the behaviour of Mr. Shah Rukh Khan who, without any provocation, hurled abuses at MCA officials and manhandled the security guard in the presence of BCCI and IPL officials,” read a statement released by Mr. Deshmukh.
“Mr. Shah Rukh Khan had no regrets for his action and misbehaviour. In fact, he has justified [his]… manhandling of the security guard and abusing and threatening MCA officials,” it added.
The BCCI was informed of the decision, Mr. Deshmukh said.
