[color=#333333]While the styling changes are hard to spot, the car has been outfitted with a new front fascia, a[/color][color=#333333] revised grille, round fog lights and restyled wheels. Furthermore, vehicles equipped with the Skyactiv engine will be distinguished by unique headlights, a metallic blue engine cover and the obligatory badging.

To dress up the interior, Mazda installed a revised instrument cluster, updated trim, and improved seat upholstery.

In the United States, the current engine lineup will be joined by a new Skyactiv-G petrol that develops 155 hp (116 kW / 157 PS) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. When it is connected to a six-speed manual transmission, the engine enables the Mazda3 sedan to return 27 mpg city / 39 mpg highway.

Last but not least, the 2012 Mazda3 also has a retuned suspension, a stiffer body structure and a new Electro-Hydraulic Power Assist Steering (EHPAS) system.
