what are the key Differences between Snapshot and Incremental/differential backups ?
I have sql database , took snapshot at 9am, 10am &11am
Full backup was done at 8am, so I have got hourly incremental backup's since then @ 9, 10, 11 am

Now my sql DB went Tango uniform @ 11:10 am, should I choose to restore from incremental backups or snapshot..
I know snapshot is much quicker but I am struggling to understand why we have incremental backups in the first place when we have snapshots?
Are snapshots and backups different in way how they work ?
I know I am clearly missing something here , can you please help me understand this properly ?

If possible could you please try and give an real time example for ease of understanding

Using Netapp SME
Issue =cluster lo unna exchange servers site(all in one location, London) datastore backup failing
Node B lo unna servers have no issues

error messages : Site A lo 3 servers unnai!

Node 1:Error 0X8013501, The communication object, system.servicemodel.channels.servicechannel cannot be used for communication because it is in faulted state

Node 2 & Node3:
Err1: you are connecting to an earlier version SnapManager server, please upgrade SME on this machine.
But adi true kadu node 2 has same SME as the rest or SME server

Err2: Failed to configure verification server settings
Err3: Failed to locate the exchange system attendant resource type from the cluster grp!

Different error messages istunnayi
client gadu emo nothing changed since last worked antunnadu .
Restarted SME services, restarted servers but no affect.

Symptom: Backup failing

Nsanity report generate cheyamani adiga, repu pamputanu annadu, netapp ki esclate chesta for reviewing,, tomorrow but before that kinda solutions try chedam anukuntunna

One suggestion was to try dethrone affected servers from cluster zone and redo,,, if this doesn't appear to work then might try re-install Snapdrive

asal clue kuda doraktle enduku all started with same symptom but diff messages all at once!

issue either NetApp filer or snap products or Microsoft cluster server (MSCS) lo undali....NetApp filer lo issue undatam chaala rare...only 1 particular backup fail avuthundi ante it cannot be a filer issue....

Snapdrive e version use chesthunnaru? upgrade chesi chudu...reboot avasaram ledu....then fail over test cheyi, bane fail over ayinda leda chudu....alage, emanna improvement undi emo chudu....most likely, undakapovachu.....safe side kosam, NetApp tho case open cheyi, but i would strongly recommend you to open a case with Microsoft....endhuku ante prathi vendor "cover my ass" policy follow avutharu, NetApp vadu emo ma issue kadu, Microsoft tho case open cheyi antadu, microsoft vadu emo filer ni blame chesthadu....

elopu event viewer ki velli, aa errors description chusthe koncham idea vasthundi, asalu em jaruguthundi ani...nuvvu provide chesina info ki naku thelisina trouble shooting steps cheppa...hope that helps...
