Ikkada maku anta scenu ledu , all in one(all mix fruit juice type lo andaru cross skilled avvali annintlo) ma company lo infact chala companies lo nak telisi ila separate teams em undavu unless it is banking sector , so just wondering is it very critical for Storage admins to learn user config part on switches ?

What is general responsibilities of SAN admins (I mean how different are they from storage admins) , inka brocade switches gurinchi Zoning , trunking kakunda , backup & restore kakunda inka em em cover cheste baguntundi real time to handful ga rataniki ?

1) Zoning (80% idhe task chestham)
2) Trunking
3) Firmware upgrade

Zoning correct ga cheyagaligithe chalu, trunking and firmware upgrade eppudo oka sari chestham....so don't worry abt them.....

switch level lo naku thelisi backup and restore undadu....nenu eppudu cheyaledu....zone create chesama, zone set lo padesama, a zoneset ni activate chesama, anthe.....if server can talk 2 the storage, that's gud enough....emanna problem ayithe a particular zone ne check chestham kani motham zone set ki touch cheyamu....endhukante andhulo chala zones untayi.....zoning check cheyadam troubleshooting lo first step...

ya usually server admins sudden ga maku storage kanapadatam ledu antaru....

so first thing, manam switch loki login ayyi, zoning correct ga undo ledo check chestham (assuming physical connectivity antha correct ga undi ani, oka vela data center lo working ayithe there is no harm in checking the physical connectivity also)...making sure everything is perfect from the switch perspective....kavali ante end to end connectivity check kuda cheyachu switch lo....eppudo chesa, gurthu ledu...

then SMC or unisphere loki login ayyi, a particular device map and mask ayyi unda chusthamu....(masking: FA port ki assign cheyadam, mapping: server wwpn ki assign cheyadam)

or symcli lo e command kuda kottachu

symaccess -sid 1234 list logins -wwn xxxx (1234: array last 4 digits of serial number, wwn of server)
a particular wwn em em devices ni chusthundi anedi thelusthundi e output lo...manam provision chesina device undo ledo check chesukunte....mana side nunchi antha correct ga unattu...
