This role is very task orientated leveraging a ticketing system to receive change and incident tickets. They do not interact with any clients as incidents are received from customer service via the ticket system or via system application monitors. We are looking for "worker bees" who can individually take on tasks with little to no collaboration. Will take place in 2 transition meetings each day - one at the beginning to have work transitioned from 1st shift (local) and one at end of shift to transition to 3rd shift (India). Application Management Services (AMS) - Systems Engineer


PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

This position is responsible for providing application support services for many of our external flagship products including [url="http://westlaw.com"]westlaw.com[/url] and WestlawNext. These services include coordinating and completing requested changes for those applications, and responding to incidents that are reported either by automated alerting or customer reported issues.

Application Services Engineers provide around-the-clock on-site coverage across 3 shifts. This position includes hours outside the established work schedule as needed and requires being part of an on-call rotation.


MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

1. Perform application releases, and other change tasks following established documentation and procedures.
2. Perform incident response activities to mitigate issues that affect the availability of supported applications. This includes responding to alerts via pager, using monitors and logging tools to investigate issues, bringing affected components out of service to mitigate customer impact, and escalating issues to appropriate partners.
3. Work with other AMS engineers to implement applications into pre-production and production environments adhering to the AMS operational support model.
4. Communicate status of change tickets and incidents.
5. Update existing documentation as changes occur.
