[b][u]Position Purpose[/u][/b]
Designs and develops internal and external business systems/applications, systems interfaces, databases, reporting, or business intelligence systems, as required to deliver new systems functionality supporting corporate business objectives. The Senior Developer leads complex projects, often mentoring and providing guidance to team members, and can work under the guidance of a Principal Developer.
This position is part of the Enterprise Business Services Group whose function is to design and develop core enterprise capabilities that drive the processing and management of revenue generating transactions.
[b][u]Primary Duties and Responsibilities:[/u][/b][list]
[*]Support ongoing development for front end systems used by Care and Retail organizations.
[*]Drive and support research and innovation initiatives pertaining to all areas of development (including technology, process, policy, governance, etc…).
[*]Lead moderate to complex projects that involve multiple systems and development teams in a geographically diverse environment.
[*]Translate business and functional requirements into documented technical specification.
[*]Utilize development skills to build (code) and unit test new systems functionality per technical specifications, with deliverables to include code builds and documented unit test results.
[*]Build and unit test production deployment packages and implementation plans for scheduled systems enhancements.
[*]Work closely with solution architects to develop highly scalable and robust solutions.
[*]Develop application support documentation as required by the application support teams for acceptance of systems changes into production.
[*]Facilitate/lead reviews (walkthroughs) of technical specifications and program code with other members of the technical team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, functionality and limitations of systems/applications to team and development lead.
[*]Experience providing high level of efforts for large, complex projects and creating detailed development plans.

[b][u]Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:[/u][/b][list]
[*]Utilize departmental Systems Development Lifecycle Methodology as a guide for development activities.
[*]Provide on call and after hours support as required for production releases and to respond and provide Tier 1 support on production outages.
[*]Contribute to and work to meet project schedules by providing accurate estimates of effort required for development deliverables, by providing updates on project progress to development and project management, and by escalating issues that might affect project success to management.
[*]Maintain technical skills and expertise through continuing education and training.
[*]Collaborate/Partner with other teams, both internal and external, including 3[sup]rd[/sup] party vendors, Enterprise Testing, Release Planning and Management, Business Systems Analysis, Project Management, and Application Support on successful delivery of systems enhancements.

[b][u]Functional/Technical Skills:[/u][/b][list]
[*]Minimum 7 years professional experience in:
[list]
[*]3 or more development languages with a strong focus on Java/J2EE (e.g., C#, ASP.Net, Java, J2EE, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, etc…).
[*]Designing and developing applications on large scale RDBMS (Oracle or SQL Server).
[*]Designing and developing applications in a Unix environment.
[*]Object oriented analysis and design.
[*]Building high volume transactional web applications.
[*]Waterfall and iterative SDLC methodologies (scrum, xp, etc…).
[/list][*]Moderate to expert knowledge with the following frameworks: Spring Framework, Struts, Hibernate, Apache Axis, JAX-WS, JUnit, Selenium (or equivalent)
[*]Experience using:
[*]Build Tools: Maven, TeamCity, CruiseControl or equivalent tool.
[*]Source Control Management: AccuRev, Subversion or equivalent tool.
[*]IDE: Eclipse, Intelli J
[*]Experience with various enterprise architectural patterns including SOA, Thin Client-Server, Component-Based, Message Bus, Event Driven
[*]Experience building and consuming Web Services (SOAP, XML, REST).
[*]Experience in software/hardware performance tuning and diagnostics.
[*]Experience with implementing BPM platforms is a plus (i.e. Activiti).
[*]Experience building applications for touch screen platform is a plus.

[b][u]Experience Requirements:[/u][/b][list]
[*]Minimum of seven years work experience as a developer is desirable, preferably in the wireless industry.
[*]Has had development experience on at least 4 projects with total project team size greater than 3 team members and has acted as lead developer on at least one project, providing technical leadership for at least 3 developers.
[*]Has experience mentoring other members of technical/development staff.
[*]Experience in developing best coding practices for class libraries is required.
[*]Ability to work in dynamic environments with multiple organizations/teams and constantly evolving requirements.

[*]Experience with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, XP, Pair Programming and TDD.
[*]Understanding of web technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, etc…)
