u cannot say the two center mids in this formation always play definsive....ya i agree that they do have defensive roles but thats wat mata was trying to prove to mourihno that he can add value as definsive mid aswell...........that said It could well be tweaked to 4-2-2-2 formation where rvp and rooney play forward followed by kagawa and mata.......backed up by carrick and fletcher.........and then the four defensive players
