Business Initiative and Scope:

Provide an author/reviewer portal that makes available functionality of an outside vendor application and information from client systems and services in a way that would benefit a researcher. Other client Publications systems and services may include: those provided within the client web delivery environment, those provided in the Parature environment, the DOTS environment, etc. Mobile application capabilities will be considered. Careful deliberation will be given in determining where the author/reviewer portal will be hosted.

• Offer a single and powerful web portal comprising content, tools, and services for client authors and reviewers in their interactions with client Publications
• Provide an environment that allows for more dissemination of high-quality scientific research
• Provide a platform and interface to accommodate innovation in peer review and publishing (e.g., collaboration, tools and services available prior to submission)
• Provide an opportunity for marketing, education, and dialog on peer review and publishing with authors and reviewers
• Place client is control of the continued and evolving functionality and design of the client author + reviewer web portal
• Provide a robust interface into other client environments to avoid limiting what can be accomplished in those environments
• Highlight client commitment to provide state-of-the-art technologies for all aspects of scholarly publishing
• Capture and support the best authors, reviewers, and research throughout the world

Detailed job description which includes:
Business Analyst Knowledge and Tasks Specific to the project:
• Technical business analyst should have working knowledge of web services and portal environments.
• Perform functional requirement gathering and requirement specification to support interactions with internal and external systems.
• Perform requirement gathering and requirement specification to support the web interface design.
• Serve as a liaison between Business and Information Technology Team.
• Facilitate decisions about the technology implementation


General Responsibilities
• The Business analyst will be responsible for eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business requirements and business rules from stakeholders.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis of business function, software design, specifications development, software development, prototyping, user-feedback sessions, testing, documentation, planning for transition to the new platform
• The Analyst will work closely with the Business Partner and Business Subject Matter Expert(s) in the definition, testing, implementation, and support of functional requirements.
• The Analyst must be able to identify requirements via industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, and functional decomposition analysis.
• The Analyst must be able to solicit requirements using a variety of requirements elicitation techniques such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, workshops etc, and choose the right technique for different elicitation situations.
• The Analyst must be able to analyze existing application software to document data relationships and functionality that needs to be captured by replacement software.
• The Analyst will be responsible for evaluation approaches for solutions that are available from software vendors and facilitate the review and analysis of vendor software systems.
• The Analyst will be responsible for developing use cases and test plans.
• The Analyst will be responsible to transform business requirements into functional specifications for systems design, customization, and reporting.
• In general, the role will include the creation/revision of the following analysis artifacts and deliverables:
o Process Maps
o Business Requirements
o Business Rules
o Use Cases
o Test Cases

Education/Experience/Technical Knowledge
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst with 3+ years using UML, IDEF0, Zachman Framework, or other modeling techniques or frameworks
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management.
• Demonstrated facilitation skills using one or more of the following: interviews, surveys, focus groups, and workshops.
• Proven experience at driving consensus across multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Project 2007, and SharePoint Services (MOSS) 2007 as well as project management.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio or equivalent system architecture or diagramming tool.
• You will be responsible to transform business requirements into functional specifications for systems design, customization and reporting.
• Project experience involving web and portal technology and supporting infrastructures.
