Oracle DBA

$125,000 with Bonus
 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Provide technical support/problem management analysis and successfully address day-to-day database incidents (e.g. locking conflicts, resource/space utilization, performance, security).

·         Leverage Oracle's Enterprise Manager to develop automated database monitoring processes, to detect, notify, and escalate critical database exceptions.

·         Leverage Oracle's Enterprise Manager/utilities for database tuning exercises, optimize database indexes, partitioning strategies, deciding hint insertions, setting up database configurations, stats execution, explain plans optimizations, etc...

·         Leverage ER Studio to support data modeling requirements for strategic Corporate project initiatives (e.g., table layout, data structures, entity relationships, etc... ). This includes physicalizing logical data models Responsible for developing/supporting new Oracle database instances, materialized views, replication strategies/implementations, Disaster Recovery platform replication solutions, backup and restoration strategies, database clustering strategies, security administration, etc...

·         Create cases in service desk application and update documentation as necessary (e.g. incident resolution description, wikis, self-service procedures).Proactively plan, manage, test, schedule and deploy database patches and upgrades (e.g. from SE1 to EE, from v11 to v12) to maintain system current with supported versions.

·         Develop data recovery processes (Hot/Cold backups, Exports/Imports and/or RMAN).

·         Anticipate hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for Development, Testing, QA, Staging, and Production for scalable database growth and performance.

·         Administer, maintain, develop and recommend policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company's databases and systems

·         Plan, develop, test, implement and manage user security / system security schema.

 

POSITION:

The Oracle DBA has full accountability and authority to manage and maintain the database instances under her/his responsibility. The position requires intense leadership and coordination with vendors and IT teams from Carnival's brands. The role requires excellent Oracle database technical knowledge and strong leadership and communication skills to be successful. The person will be overseeing 200+ database instances located across the globe, and has to collaboratively work with other teams to ensure service availability and incident resolution.

 

 

Education:

·         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar discipline is required

 

Experience:

·         Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience with Database Administration for Oracle Databases (installation, configuration, maintenance and patching procedures).

·         Proficient in Oracle Database v11g, and database management tools/utilities.

·         Experience in troubleshooting and resolving Oracle database problems.

·         Experience with logging and tracking incidents/problems using a help desk system. Familiarity with Service Desk Management Systems (e.g. RemedyForce, Service Now).

·         An overall degree of familiarity with technologies such as VMware, IIS, TCP/IP, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, and UNIX is necessary to fulfill the position responsibilities.

·         Organized, detail oriented and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to foster communication and collaboration across departments and across a wide range of skill sets, using a variety of approaches.

·         Demonstrate the ability to be creative and effective in finding solutions to complex problems, balancing immediate and long-term needs.

·         Possess documentation skills needed to create and formalize procedures, standards and processes.

·         Ability to communicate confidently at the highest levels and build meaningful internal and external relationships.

·         Must have strong communication and leadership qualities; be well organized, well informed, and able to achieve desired goals and objectives while maintaining the respect and support of the organization.

·         Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

·         Experience in cloning database instances and refresh/replicate schema data

·         SQL & PL/SQL performance tuning

 

Skills & Abilities:

·         Oracle Certified Professional 10g 11g

·         ITIL v3 Certification a plus

·         7yrs plus experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager

·         3yrs plus experience with Oracle RAC

·         3yrs plus experience with Oracle Data Guard

·         7yrs plus experience with Oracle Precise Utilities

·         7yrs plus experience with Oracle ER Studio and DB Artisan Data Modeling tools

·         10yrs plus experience with SQL Plus

·         7yrs plus experience with Developing Oracle Database Procedures

·         2yrs plus experience with Oracle's Database Tuning Pack

·         2yrs plus experience with Oracle's Data Integrator
