It’s with a great deal of sadness and disbelief that a local Telugu Resident "Dinesh Sudhakar" (26 years), a young software engineer working at a major Insurance company in Bloomington, IL passed away on Saturday April 19th as he lost control of the two-person kayak at about 4:30 pm near Illinois 38 and Water street. Dinesh was on a kayaking trip with a group of friends when his kayak got struck in a Turbine swirls in the dam and rushed into the water.

The two men were with a group of six friends from the Bloomington area who had rented three kayaks for a trip down the river. The four other members were not injured and this tragedy has deepened because of six friends got together from different parts of the country.

Dinesh was a great colleague and friend and an individual was very helpful in social & cultural activities in the twin towns. He will be missed greatly.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this hard time.

 

Of all the others who are safe are Karthik Jangiti, Chadrashekar Durgampudi, Rajasekhar Durgampudi, both are siblings and Harikrishna Kotha. They have been in USA past several years, working as software engineers at different locations currently.

Dinesh is survived by both parents and a sister who is set to get married this July. Dinesh’s family are in deep shock after hearing this sad news. Dinesh is supposed to visit parents for his sister's marriage in July.

National level Telugu Associations such as ATA and TANA have been contacted to help with the sending the deceased to Hyderabad. Currently ATA volunteers are working on logistics and their board member Mr. Satyanarayana along with treasurer Narendar Chemarla are coordinating the efforts to get all the needed documents through State Government sources and the Indian Consulate at Chicago office as soon as possible and expected to send the deceased to Hyderabad by Thursday/Friday the earliest.

 

We request you to donate money, if you can. No amount is small.

This amount will be used 

(1) towards sending the remains to India;

(2) to offer direct help to the mother/parents of the deceased. Many organizations and groups are trying their bit to reach out to this figure.
