Some options - 

 

#1 :  Ask your friend to tell the girl, that friend-of-friend has the same problem as his and intelligently seek the girls opinion.

 

#2 :  Same as above, but try with boy's parents to get the opinion.

 

#3 : Some how create an impression/belief, your friend just got in touch with a girl from school/college, and your friend wants to marry that girl etc..

 

#4 : Put some astrology or some thing and say if we marry in the next 3 to 4years, things would be extremely worse as per astrology .. .

 

#5 : Say that the boy is not feeling well or some thing (leg facture etc) and he cannot come to india for marriage...

 

#6 : Tell directly to girl's father/mother that this is the situation and request them to keep it confidential and ask them to say as per astrology its better to cancel marriage..
