Rajinikanth, who was born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on 12 December 1950 is undoubtedly a Superstar. We are not just saying it in the point of Indian Cinema but now he is a famous media personality, cultural icon and above all a great human. He came to acting field in plays while working in the Bangalore Transport Service as a bus conductor. In 1973, he joined the Madras Film Institute to pursue a diploma in acting.

Following his debut in K. Balachander’s Tamil drama Apoorva Raagangal (1975), his acting career commenced with a brief phase of portraying antagonistic characters in Tamil films. In 1978, Rajinikanth went on to star in 20 different films across Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.  Bairavi, which was released in the same year, was the first Tamil film to cast Rajinikanth as a main hero directed by M.Bhaskar.It was in this film he earned the sobriquet “Superstar”.  His mannerisms and stylish delivery of dialogue in films contribute to his mass popularity and appeal. Baasha (1995), which emerged as an industry record,  had made Rajini not only a popular actor but also demigod status among masses.
