Number of Attempts

A candidate is allowed to appear for JEE Main 2016 examination for a maximum of two times, that too consecutively. For securing admission into IITs and ISM, the candidates should either be in category wise top 20 percentile in Class 12 or must have scored at least 75 percent aggregate marks for general and OBC-NCL or 70 percent aggregate marks for SC, ST and PWD candidates.

 

Examination Pattern

 

JEE is bifurcated into two parts: Main and Advanced. JEE Main 2016 is held is for admission in IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and IIEST Shibpur, for admission to its dual degree programme.

 

JEE Main 2016, on the other hand, is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and Indian School of Mines Dhanbad (to be converted into IIT). JEE Main 2016 is the second stage of examination for admission in Indian Institute of Technology conducted by seven zonal IITs under Joint Admisison Board. First stage examination for admissions to prestigious IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and ISM (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad will be held on April 3, 2016 (Offline) and on April 9 and 10, 2016 (Online).
