private sector lo Zoho was among the pioneers of cloud computing. Salesforce overtook it because Zoho has a different market, and hasn't taken investor dollars for more than 10yrs now. It is still a highly profitable private company.

 

this company was completely built in chennai, where the CEO handpicked students from colleges in TN hinterlands, trained them, and built the company. Its the stuff of legends.

I remember that around 2002, when I graduated, I came across a guy who was developing office software in Tamil. He did show me a demo, because we shared the hotel room to save money in singapore.

I didn't say public sector companies. I said that they are among the dozen companies ruling Korea.

 

What about big companies in India? Do they have a product line like the koreans do? What's the point of giving Reliance, TATA all those loans from the public kitty?

 

have they produced goods that foreigners want to buy?

 

Taiwan on the other hand, consciously did not promote huge companies, and instead stuck to small businesses.

 

Today Taiwan is a much more thriving economy than Korea is. Okay I may be slightly exaggerating. But Taiwan was a better economy than Korea. And will beat it in the future too, after the current slowdown.
