Hyderabad: All the 10 TDP MLAs who had crossed fences into TRS on Friday appealed the Speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly to merge their legislature party with the ruling party. They gave a letter signed by all the 10 MLAs including minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav and the Leader of the abandoned TDP in the Assembly Errabelli Dayakar Rao.

 

The group of MLAs stated that they decided to merge TDLP with TRS at a meeting held on Friday. Since they constitute a majority of the total 15 MLAs in the Assembly, they have power to dissolve their party affiliation and merge with TRS. As per para 4 of Schedule 10 in the Constitution, they appealed the speaker S. Madhusudanachary to recognize them as TRS members.

On the other hand, the newly elected TDP legislature party leader Revanth Reddy contested the merger on the grounds that it is not valid as five of the party MLAs still remained with the party. He submitted a letter to the Assembly secretary demanding disqualification of the defected MLAs. He later told the media that the merger declared by Dayakar Rao was not valid and the party would challenge it in the High Court.
