I will go much further and say they already are a very good ODI team especially in Asian conditions. Last year they reached quarterfinals of the World Cup when England could not. They whitewashed Pakistan 3-0, defeated India 2-1, vanquished South Africa 2-1 at home in ODI's. Those are some seriously impressive results for a team considered to be a minnow for a very long time. 

 

Shakib Al Hasan is now rated as the World's number 1 all rounder in Tests, ODI's and T-20's and he fully deserves that status.

 

Bangladesh's emergence into the top tier of cricketing pantheon is significant as cricket is still only competitively played by less than 10 countries in the world and we need more teams playing top flight cricket to globalize the game.
