Tdp Is A "test Match Material" : Nara Lokesh

VIJAYWADA:  The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a "Test match material" meant for longer innings, its national general secretary Nara Lokesh said today in the backdrop of the party's drubbing in recent Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls.

"We don't play T-20 matches. We are Test match material. We play longer innings, given our three decades of political experience," said Lokesh, son of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, referring to TDP's rout in the civic polls.

 

Nara Lokesh had spearheaded the party's campaign for the polls, but it managed to win only one seat in the 150-member civic body as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) swept.

 

"GHMC polls were just a speed breaker for us. Our real target is the 2019 election. We will jump into the fray with fresh young blood," Mr Lokesh said in his first public reaction after the GHMC election.
