I don't know what your friends experiences are... but my friend is on bench from almost 3 months.. he has 4 years of exp on devops in usa... just 2 client calls schedule ayyayanta last three months lo.....

I saw many posts on AFDB that DEVops bagundi market ani... but reality is devops lo 10 requirements untey.. prati requirement different ga untundi and you have learn a ton of tools.. which are different from client to client....

I personally suggest to go for anything Data related.. which have good market and billing.

Finally Meeku emina Gud consultancies on DEVops teliste cheppandi.. na friend ki kavali.. he is on ehhh one and on bench from last 3 months...

Devops has a lot of opportunities but unfortunately most of them are only limited to Green Card holders/ EADs and US citizens. I have a good knowledge of DevOps and have experience working on Puppet, however when they hear that I am on H1B they are saying no directly.

I guess these days it's not so much about the technology anymore, it's all about having that paccha card or not. That's about it.

2 years back when I used to a position, 95% of the times I used to get an interview and 95% of the times when I do the interview I used to get the job.

This time I had to wait almost a month and half with all the submissions etc to get a confirmed position. Of course there's my mistake too partly in this based on the fact that I had rejected a good job offer that came my way. That said though, market is pretty dull and hopeless for candidates on H1B unfortunately.

Connections are what matter the most these days, you are right about that.
