You have told your lead that you need more time to do it...make sure you have very good reason for why you felt that way...never take blame on you no matter what...you did your job, she is the lead and it's her responsibility to make sure that the deliverable is going out in time otherwise let you client know beforehand that you cannot meet your timelines. So, you did your job, just make sure you have a very good reason why you thought it would take more time for the deliverable but not because you are not efficient.

Anyways, everyone does what the best they can do in their capabilities so next time try not to goof off but give it your best especially when you are dealing with a tough client and a short timeline.

So Monday talk to your lead and tell her that you felt relieved after looking at the email "this morning" and thank her for taking care of it but don't get defensive or anything.

If she starts blaming or become sarcastic let her start it first and then you can tell her that you already let her know beforehand and take it from there. But hopefully try to avoid going into that direction.

If upper management is involved in all this then I suggest you have a skip level meeting and let them know that your were transparent in your communication and told the lead already beforehand the issue. If they are not involved then bring it up very casually when you meet her boss either in kitchen or somewhere else but make sure you mention it very superficial and casual.

Good luck!
