Telugu Student Dies In Alabama Road Accident

HYDERABAD: A 24-year-old student from the city, who was pursuing Computer Science course in Troy University, died in a road accident in Alabama, America. Four of his friends, who were travelling in the same car, suffered grievous injuries and are recuperating at hospital, reports reaching here said. The youngster, Joy Mathew Moses, died after his car collided head on with another car. A woman passenger in the other car lost her life.

According to reports, the victim and his friends were returning home after attending a weekend party at 3 am on Saturday. Matthew was a resident of Tarnaka in the city. The family hailed from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and settled in Hyderabad. The Alabama State Law Enforce Agency officials informed the victim’s friends in Alabama that Joy Matthew died on the spot while four of his friends sustained injuries. 

Police said Joy Matthew was in the driver seat and he was returning to his residence in Troy along with his friends. As the vehicle reached double bridge stretch Alabama 167 near north of Enterprise, the car collided head-on with another car. 

 

Elizabeth Farris English, 19, of Elba was killed when the vehicle she was driving collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Joy Matthew Moses, 24, of Troy, according to Alabama state troopers.

Both English and Moses died at the scene of the two-vehicle crash on Alabama 167 at the 38.8-mile maker, seven miles north of Enterprise. The crash occurred at around 3:45 a.m.

Two of his friends suffered severe injuries and fell unconscious while two others got trapped in wreckage.

Joy Matthew had worked in Automatic Data Processing private Limited, Wipro in the city after finishing his graduation.  Joy completed his graduation at Little Flower degree College in Uppal.

Matthew left his job and went to the US after securing an admission in Troy University, Alabama to pursue higher education in Computer Sciences.

Elizabeth Farris English age 19 of Elba, Alabama died Saturday, February 20, 2016 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at the Elba Church Of Christ on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 beginning at 11:00 AM with Min. Greg Hanchey officiating. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Monday evening, February 22nd, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to the National Allopecia Areata Foundation, c/o 65 Mitchell Blvd, #200 B, San Rafael, CA 94903. Farris was a 2014 graduate of Elba High School, where she was actively involved in many school activities. She was a member of the Elba High School cheerleading squad, the Beta Club, as well as a school ambassador. Farris represented the City of Elba as Little Miss Elba, Junior Miss Elba, and was crowned Miss Elba in 2013. Farris was also selected by her peers and faculty to attend the Coffee County Leadership Program, along with being selected to the homecoming court. She was enrolled as a sophomore at Enterprise-Ozark Community College where she was continuing her education. She is survived by her Father - Christopher Robert English, Elba, AL, Mother - Kristi Lee Granberry, Dothan, AL, Brother - Rob English, Elba, AL, Paternal Grandmother - Nellie English, Elba, AL, Maternal Grandmother - Ruth Kilgore Granberry, Headland, AL, Maternal Grandfather - Kevin Granberry, Destin, FL, and Maternal Great Grandmother - Virginia Granberry, Dothan, AL, along with her best friends - Mandi Mallory, Luverne, AL, and Brinley Williams of Panama City Beach, FL. Farris was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandfather Rob English.

Hayes Funeral Home of Elba, Alabama is serving the English family.
