beginner ayite rental best man. good ski's and boots combo can easily cost ~1k. putting that much is worth only if you use ~20 times or you have access to free back country skiing which requires lot of experience. if you plan to go 10 times a year, you can get your money in 2 years and sell at half price in ebay.

 

so, my suggestion is try 2/3 times, buy in ebay for half price
