Avinash Recovery And Surgery

Hello Family & Friends,

I am Akhil, friend of Avinash Since childhood. Avinash was diagnosed with locally advanced recto sigmoid carcinoma (colon cancer) at the age of 28. 

Avinash who is a graduate from JNTU has a Bachelors degree in Information and Technology and is also a fitness freak. Avinash had always been a healthy eater.

In Dec 2014, Avinash Came to the US to pursue his Masters at the University of California, Fullerton and was experiencing pain in the abdomen due to constipation. Avinash had consulted a local doctor to figure out the issue. He was initially advised medication for constipation and Vit B12 injections. As there was no improvement, the doctors advised more scans and discovered that it was a case of Colon Cancer and needs to be treated immediately. He had then decided to go back to India to stay with his family during the treatment.

The treatment started with 25 sessions of Radiation therapy, surgical procedure to place loop sigmoid colostomy and 6 sessions of chemotherapy.The tumor responded to treatment initially, shrunk in size, later on increased.  His condition grew worse because of sepsis due to obstructive uropathy for which bilateral pelvic nephrostomes were done. He received 45 blood transfusions.

Situation worsened. He had pus filled urinary bladder and ureters. Recto sigmoid tumor infiltrating trigone  of bladder and pelvic side wall. Small bowel adhesions to pelvic side wall. Doctors suggested surgery , for removal of urinary bladder and a permanent colostomy. 

Current condition: Post operation, PET scan was done. Scan shows metastasis on liver. 

As we all know the medical expenses in India are very high and the Insurance does not cover as much as here in the US. Avinash's parents have initially spent about     Rs. 3,000,000 ( USD $47,000) apart from which we friends of Avinash raised about another Rs. 800,000 (USD $12,500) which were used for his initial surgery and treatment.  Avinash still needs to go through multiple cycles of Chemo and Radiation therapy.

We all know Avinash is a fighter and his will-power will get him back to normal life. I've started this page on his behalf to help him with the medical expenses. Please show your support and spread the word as we want to raise the fund for his future expenses.
