YSR belongs to Congress so obviously cannot contend for the highest seat.

NTR tried his level best to form National Front, which nothing but a Kichidi of various conflicting and self-inflicting parties like JD, AIDMK, SP, BSP (almost every non-congress Govt.). After DeveGowda, NTR was offered PM post but by that time, he understood how bad it is to be a PM from a party where the leader has to BEND infront of all MPs.
