This is the story of grit and determination of a woman comrade, who sacrificed her infant for the cause of liberation of Telangana from the clutches of Nizam rulers during the armed struggle in the region.

Ch. Kamalamma (77) is a native of Warangal district, who actively participated in the Telangana armed struggle, and went underground along with her husband Apanna. She studied up to fourth class, and was married at an early age. When her brothers and husband took up the fight against the Nizam's feudalism, she also joined the movement along with her husband and went underground.

She conceived while she was underground and also delivered a male baby in the jungles. However, even after delivery, she did not return home and lived in the forests fighting against the Nizam's forces. After six months, their dalam commander asked her to return home as her child's cry would help police trace them and the entire dalam would be wiped out.

But she said that she would sacrifice her child. Later, she went to the nearby villages and left her child near the habitations of primitive tribes and returned to the dalam. After the liberation of the Telangana in 1948, she went back to the place to locate her child, but in vain.

The migrant tribal people had left the village. For six decades, she had been searching for her son.
