why 50% premium. company profits can go down, or some other competition will come.  even then paying 50% extra is tolerable as long as there are jobs, and they will be.

 

minimum wage will increase. almost all west coast states have resolutions towards increase by 2020, rest of country will follow soon. east lo ny already did some backdoor tricks for minimum wage increase so that a bill/law doesn't need to be passed

 

universal healthcare. status quo on obamacare will continue

Capital movement is free. No one can stop corporates setting up industries in a low cost region. Import tariffs can be imposed. They already are, except on some goods.

 

To expect jobs to remain in one place in this day and age, is to turn the clock back to an era where standard of living was worse.

 

Instead of restricting capital and good movement, better to allow free labour movement :giggle:

 

That way all Indians can end up in the west, and those in the west can chose to go work in India, or cry wolf in the US.

 

Increasing trade tariffs on more goods is not going to be bringing more and more jobs to the US. More like a trade war with its partners, which will result in increasing the cost of business, as well as lose many high paying jobs.

 

China can open its market and replace the US as the preferred large trader for its neighbours. All these calls for trade controls are by deluded people who think the US can control how trade moves in the world. 

 

Its nice to see how some in the west are caught between the devil and deep sea.

Russian federation etc, all screwed up. anglicized countries would have been begging, if they didn't squeeze out India for over 100 years or bringing cheap labor. now as they're not allowed atleast publicly, you can see how their competitive advantage will be

trade controls are already in place. But only in sectors which have strong labour unions. 

 

Americans were proud of destroying labour unions, and now want to cry to bring trade controls back.

 

Anyway, trade deals can be made, but it can never be made in a way that is solely beneficial to the US. You allow one good, and control another. It cannot be a blanket tariff for all goods. US will cease to function if such a thing were to happen.
