Tyrannosauraus_Rex
I do know a lot of Trump supporters at work and they are fine. A vast majority of the whites I have interacted with actually were and are very nice to me, so is the case with blacks and one of my closest friends is a Mexican American. So far in the US, I have not faced racism - it is easy to brush an entire race with the same paint based on some isolated incidents - there is a tendency to accuse whites of racism based on the actions of a few which I believe is wrong. Had this country been really racist where majority are whites we would not even be here. I remember when I was in India a few years ago - a CCTV video of a Telugu student who was shot to death at a department store by 3 blacks - where he worked as a clerk made sensation. TV9 ran a report "Are these Africans or Aatavikans" - there was public commentary on how black neighborhoods are dangerous and in general it is not safe to live in black majority areas. In fact when I was fixing to move to the US from New Zealand 3 years ago, many of my Indian friends actually warned me not to live in black dominated areas. Just giving an example of how easy it is to fall prey to stereotypical narratives based on isolated incidents. Given Trump's rhetoric it is plausible to assume that he will attract a bunch of xenophobes, racists and bigots but I am certain that is a tiny minority of his overall supporters. The minority of his supporters are the guys who vote for him despite being disgusted with his antics, because they don't want another 8yrs of dem rule. You can't accuse someone of racism because they despise the black lives matter movement. but you can accuse them of being an asshole. That's what Trump supporters are, and overwhelming majority of them. This is a bit like Modi supporters who think reservations are holding back India. VizagRocks
I laugh at Trump supporters who try hard to disguise their racism with rants about trade deals. Those racists are not just white. They come in all colors, including black.
VizagRocks
basically to characterize Trump/Modi supporters, they are the underclass of the upper section of the society. They are pissed that others are getting ahead in their life, but are ashamed to admit it. So they focus their attack on the lowest class. While doing this, they also attack the section of the upper class that supports/pays lip service to the lowest class. They forget to attack inhouse assholes (fellow repubs/Hindutva) for creating the business environment that lead to their current situation
