Ap Wins 5 Prestigious Awards For Energy Conservation

Andhra Pradesh made a clean sweep of the energy conservation national awards-2015, constituted by the Union Ministry of Power.

The State bagged all the five awards, making it the first state to achieve the rare distinction. The State Secretary (Energy), Ajay Jain received a communication to this effect from the Ministry, according to a press release.

The winners are the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM). The Best State Designated Agency (SDA) for effectively monitoring, devising, studying the best practices & advising the State for implementation of energy efficiency activities.

The AP Southern Power Distribution Company, the Best DISCOM in implementation of domestic efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) i.e. distribution of LED bulbs scheme in 5 districts.

The Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), MA&UD, the best urban local body for implementation of energy efficient LED Street Lighting programme. APSPDCL and GVMC for the best business model for energy efficiency activities.

The awards will be presented on December 14 at the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi by the Union Minister, Piyush GoelAP

This would be the first time that any state in the country has clinched all the national awards in the area of energy conservation, benefiting the state & stakeholders in a big way. The state energy department officials received awards from the hands of Union Energy Minister Sri PiyushGoyal at a function in New Delhi. The awards won by AP government are as below: Best State Designated Agency (SDA) for effectively monitoring, devising and studying best practices for implementation of energy efficiency activities.

 

Best DISCOM – AP Southern Power Distribution Company (APSPDCL), has been chosen as the best DISCOM in the implementation of the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) distribution of LED Bulbs Scheme in 5 districts.

 

Best Urban Local Body in the country – Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is declared as best Urban Local Body in the country for implementation of Energy Efficient LED Street Lighting programme.

 

Best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities – APSPDCL has achieved Best Business Model for its Energy Efficiency Activities.

 

Best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities – Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is again declared as best Business Model for Energy Efficiency Activities.

 

Starting off with a power-deficit of 22 million units (MU) per day in June, the state government has brought it down to zero within 100 days. Through this, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has achieved the “zero- power cuts” milestone. Andhra Pradesh is one of the three states in the country chosen by the Government of India for implementation of 24X7 “Power for All” programme.
