Rajpal Singh is a former captain of Indian hockey team — an Arjuna Award winner. He is the man who captained the Indian hockey team in 2010 Commonwealth Games and has led India to many heights in international hockey.  And guess how his identity is also getting associated by the skyrocketing craze of the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup? He is a traffic DSP who has been assigned the responsibility of players’ safety at the Mohali stadium.

No doubt, he has been doing his duty like a responsible security personnel, but those who are being protected by him have no clue who he is. Rajpal spearheaded the Indian team until it was taken over by Sardar Singh. The State gave him the opportunity to work in the police force.

Rajpal had represented Delhi Waveriders during the 2014 edition of the Hockey India League, but most of the time he was warming the benches. He led the Indian hockey team to victory in 2011 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy defeating Pakistan in the final.

Like Rajpal, other sportsmen who have been offered positions in the state police include the likes of Joginder Sharma — the man who became the hero 2007 ICC T20 world cup final, Dalip ‘The Great Khali’ — wrestler. Other Arjun awards like Baljit Dhillon, Jugraj Singh have also joined the police department.
