LordOfMud
If you’re not a multi-millionaire horse owner or one of the few folks who managed to get tickets to the raucous party at Churchill Downs’ infield, there’s still a chance to feel like you’re at the track—as long as you’ve got a virtual reality headset, that is. NextVR will be live-streaming the "fastest two minutes in sports" starting at 4 p.m. ET through the NextVR app for the Samsung Gear VR headset. So, this year you’ll be able to experience the race from the comfort of your home. Pants optional. NextVR says the broadcast will include a series of VR cameras positioned around the track, one near the owners’ suites, and two more in the paddock so you can see the horses getting themselves pumped up before the big race. The entire field of 20 Kentucky Derby horses and their connections -- the owners, trainers and jockeys -- will parade from the barn to the paddock beginning at 6:15 p.m. Riders will be called to mount their horses at 6:25 p.m., and the annual singing of "My Old Kentucky Home" soon follows. And at 6:34, the "fastest two minutes in sports" begins. 142nd Kentucky Derby Walk from the barn: 6:15 p.m. Post time: 6:34 p.m. ET TV: NBC beginning at 4 p.m. Streaming: NBC Sports Live Extra
