Movies are made as per audience's demand. If the audience don't appreciate good storytelling or a movie without all the shrills and frills movie makers aren't bothered to make movies of that kind. End of the day, movies are a business and there are people whose livelihood depends on the performance of a movie. So blame the audience for refusing to grow up from their narrow minded definition of what a good movie constitutes, and then perhaps we can expect the industry to change.

give examples where such movies are not appreciated.

Show me one movie in recent times which doesn't have a fight which defies physics and pretty much every theory , an item number with a half naked girl dancing around in it, insulting comedy where a "comedian" is a butt of ridicule and routinely slapped by the so called "hero" of the movie and a song where the lead actors are running around trees in some exotic locations. Show me a movie that has collections on par with movies that have all the above without having any of the above and you have your answer.

He means the audience don't have a 'choice'. they can't choose between an independent film and a commercial film. Because almost all are commercial.

and he is right. Where he is wrong is that, Telugu industry lacks the talent to come up with really good indie films. And that is one of the reasons why they are stuck with commercial movies.

Audience cannot take the sole responsibility for the crap level in telugu movies.

Telugu writers should stop sucking up to upwardly mobile middle class, and start exploring native themes that involve rest of the society too.

It is diversity of thought that gives decent stories. Pretty sure, there's not much diversity in TFI, which is why it sucks. It is not because of one caste, but the entire upper caste.

It is a poorly written movie. slightly better than regular movies, but still can't understand why the hero has to be a rich NRI doc cum investor.

Also why the heroine was so secretive about her situation, when she didn't have any problems in calling the guy to drop his work and travel to India.

People write these kind of BS stories.

you are blaming handful of families. Why not be brave enough and blame the upper caste hold on TFI? Not be design. but by chance.

That is the reason why TFI sucks. They all live in a bubble. so much untapped talent in AP/TG, wasted because of this lack of diversity.

When telugu people didn't have a problem to watch "Aayirathil Oruvan" dubbed movie, they will surely watch a similar movie based on their own people. Producers play it too safe in TFI.

they don't just run the industry. They control the entire narrative. It is not their fault. That's where the money is.

but it won't last decades. It will be broken when AP/TG gets on the path of industrialization.

pls don't hijack this thread with upper vs lower caste discussion. just talk about movies.

Telugu films reflect the kind of backward society it is. They try to hide their backwardness by celebrating their billionaires, and rich farmers and their communities.

But it shows, given how shallow most of these films are.
