Asuras are raakshasas.

 

Adhey Asura is by birth from clan of sage kashyapa. They can be good or bad. Sura means powerful and Asura means not powerful  imagine like party in power and opposition eying for the chair.., Raavana and his Siblings are Rakshasa by Guna(Race)..and are considered as   Asura' by birth due to his mother's Lineage. So I thought of correcting that There were no Asura's at time of Raavan in his kingdom as if they  show Asura's they get tainted as not being a rakshasa in  Raavan's rule by the people. So Ravan always referred him as Rakshassa Gan nayaka.
