I think it is wrongly interpreted. The real scientific reason is ants cannot cross anything that disrupts it's scent trail. Here the pen's ink odor disrupted it's normal path. It is matter of time the ant realizes ink is part of it's path and crosses it. 

Didn't you guys play with ants in your childhood.
