3 Feet Under The Thar Desert, Indian Soldiers Find A Constant Supply Of Water

BSF soldiers found water just 2-3 feet beneath the surface in an oasis in the sand dunes of Shahgarh Bulge area in Jaisalmer district. This news comes at the time when some parts of the nation are tackling natural calamities like drought and the Soldiers find clean water in what we know, is one of the hottest areas in the country, the great Thar Desert .

The water which is quenching the thirst of heat wrenched BSF soldiers is believed to be sourced out from the extinct Saraswati river. It is the only source of water for the BSF jawans at the Indo-Pak border and the fact that it is even cleaner and better than mineral water is pleasing to know. Moreover, shockingly when used in the day time the small sources of water in the oasis gets recharged at night .

According to sources, a small area amid sand dunes in Shahgarh bulge is thickly vegetated which might explain why the oasis has an always flowing water and the area never witness paucity of water. Senior Groundwater Scientist Dr. Narayan Das Inkhia dedicates the reason for continuous water to the gums of clay in less deep areas which prevent water from seeping in.

BSF Dilbag Singh told Times Of India about the situation,”There are dozens of wells in BSF outposts at Khara, Khajuria, Nalka, Jhalaria, Rohtosh, Veerhill, Kirarwali, Somgam and others that never go dry” and further added that many BSF outposts are supplied water through pipelines in these areas .
