H1B withdrawal OR revoke OR What is it called and How to do it?

H1B extension filed in premium 3 days back - along with client letter. But now, project ended. Attorney said that it is safe to take back the filed application and apply fresh one again after having a new project. I appreciate if some one can throw more light on what the exact process is and documents needed for this. 

Existing H1B status is valid till September of this year as per I-94 issued in 2013. After revoking this extension, will existing H1B have its old validity till Sept 2016 or any risk for the status?
