The 2-year Telugu Desam Rule succeeded in providing electricity at 100 per cent to all villages in the state, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, claimed on Wednesday.

At a Tele-Conference with officials and people's representatives as part of Maha Sankalpam from his Undavalli residence, Chandrababu vowed to provide gas connection to every household by next year.

The Government would accord top priority to providing all basic amenities to the villages and exhorted the people to participate in the growth process.

The people could compare as to what the TDP Government was doing to provide all facilities despite the existing financial situation and available resources and the performance of the previous government.

`When I took over the reins 2 years ago, the financial situation was in doldrums and it was put on right track of growth trajectory,' he maintained.

Though the state was suffering a shortage of 22.5 million units two years ago, `we turned the State into a power surplus situation in one year with persistent efforts,' he remarked.

`Our aim is to ensure that the rural people get power, water, gas and other amenities and steps taken to make available organic fertilizers to the farmers by establishing vermin compost units. Besides, efforts are on to increase infrastructure facilities for development. We are also trying to ensure safe drinking water for every household and irrigation water for every acre scheme. We aim to construct cement roads stretching 5000 km this financial year,' the chief minister added.

Babu also asked the officials to prepare a development plan for every constituency and make online the details of education, health, facilities, agriculture and irrigation waters.

Expressing satisfaction at the increase of groundwater table to 12.93 metres as the state received 8 per cent more rainfall so far, which is equal to 90 tmc waters, he hoped that groundwater would reach 200 tmc by June end.

He asked the officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for water security, a release said.
