Dasari has been in the business for over 40 years and directed 151 motion pictures yet he has not got the Padma awards. His contemporary director K Raghavendra Rao who likewise directed more than 100 motion pictures is not awarded the Padma award by the Government of India. But younger directors with just 10 movies were given the highest civilian honour because some political personalities backed them and lobbied for them.
