Telangana has reported a 27.45% growth in own tax revenues, highest among the states, during the first two months of current fiscal thanks to improved tax collections from key departments. These include commercial, excise, stamps and registration, sales, transport and mines, among others.

During the period under review, Telangana has reported Rs 7,687 crore of state own tax revenue as against Rs 6,031 crore a year ago, reflecting a growth of Rs 1,656 crore.

Going by the impressive performance, the state now hopes to report around Rs 11,500 crore of additional state own tax revenues during the full year of current fiscal.

"Telangana's innovative industrial policy TS-iPASS, reduced corruption, ease of doing business, uninterrupted and quality power supply and political stability were among key factors that have contributed to this impressive growth in state own revenues," said chief minister Rao.

"Telangana could attract substantial investments thanks to the conducive environment. New industrial units have come up and the existing units have expanded, resulting in increased revenue collections," said the CMO statement.

"We suffered initial hindrances immediately after Telangana state formation where we had to run the administration for nearly seven months without adequate bureaucrats," said chief minister Rao in the statement. "We could gradually recover towards achieving political stability and bring in policy changes to ensure conducive environment for industrial and commercial investments."
