The film portraits Super Star  Rajini Kanth as the title character "Kabali", whilst Taiwanese actor Winston Chao, Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan, and John Vijay star in other pivotal roles. 'Kabali' has been directed by Pa Ranjith, Santhosh Narayanan has rendered the music of this movie while Kalaipuli S Thanu has produced it. The film’s shoot was wrapped up long ago and going by the current buzz, the censor formalities have also been completed successfully. The film was given an U certificate for the film. The film is slated for release on 22 July 2016.

Rajini's fans, meanwhile, wish to watch their hero delivering a message oriented film with full of mass elements. It seems 'Kabali' stands best among them. Apparently, 'Kabali' will be the first blockbuster for Rajini in the genre of message oriented commercial entertainers in recent times. Looking into his career graph, very less number of message oriented films are witnessed.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu got his books of accounts kept so confidential. However, unofficial sources from Kollywood reported on producer Thanu spent a budget of nearly Rs.110 Crores into the making of 'Kabali’ Despite Rajini’s mania, the movie has to collect anything near to Rs.120 to 200 Crores in order to get rated as safe to hit product. Same reports buzzed on, Rs.1.4 Crores worth amount was spent alone on designing Rajinikanth costumes which the producer agreed officially in a recent interview. Well, this could be a safe gamble because a hit verdict on day one will safely take 'Kabali’ approximately to Rs.300 Crores.

Pa Ranjith has said that this film will showcase Rajinikanth only as an actor, something that he believes was last achieved in Mullum Malarum, directed by J Mahendran."After 'Mullum Malarum', this ('Kabali') is the film where you can see the best of Rajinikanth, acting wise," the Madras film-maker said.
Adding that the Rajinikanth will be seen as a citizen of Malaysia in the film, Ranjith went on to say that the movie is about the rise of an individual from a group of Indians, who were sent to Malaysia to work in the rubber industry."Everybody can relate to the story of 'Kabali', but it is not a story based on real life incidents", the young director confirmed.

Talking about the experience of working with one of Asia's biggest superstars, Anu costume designer for "Kabali" said, "He is the nicest person to work with. He has absolutely no hang-ups, and always goes with the director's instructions. Rajini sir was very open to working with younger people. He was very encouraging. He would want us to give the inputs. She has also said that two different patterns were used, keeping in mind the old and young roles of Rajini "We have used muted colours for the older Rajinikanth. The younger version of Rajini will be seen wearing colourful and printed shirts. I like his retro look. Rajini sir has carried it off so well. He just completely transformed into that role and that caught me by surprise. He just walks that way. He was suddenly all pumped up with energy."

So the big question is, what to expect from the much awaited movie when it finally releases in cinemas? What should be your mindset like when you walk into the theatre to witness Rajinikanth's Kabali? First of all, is it right to address the movie as 'Rajinikanth's Kabali'? I don't think so, for this particular superstar starrer will be dominated by Ranjith's directorial skills.

So if you are walking into the cinema hall, expecting to witness the much loved 'Rajinism' from the beginning till the very end, Kabali might disappoint you. This will change drastically when you expect Rajinikanth to show up as an actor rather than a star. Kabali will showcase sentiment and strong emotions, according to Dhansika, who has acted in the movie. More than anything else, the film is expected to have a strong storyline and a racy narration, for editor Praveen KL had said the screenplay of Kabali will have the race against time element to it.
