The azure waters of Visakhapatnam coast is all set to buzz with water sports activities from this month. Livein Adventures has joined hands with AP Tourism to scale up adventure tourism by introducing kayaking, speed boat rides and scuba diving at the backwaters of Mangamaripeta.

The first trials of kayaking were held on Sunday morning. A team of six expert trainers took batches of tourists for half-an-hour rides in the backwater on four kayaks and a Gemini boat as part of the trial runs.

Speaking to The Hindu , Sadiq Mohammed of Livein Adventures said that the trial runs would go on for another week. “The backwaters at Mangamaripeta are an ideal spot for water sports. We will be starting the daily kayaking rides from next weekend,” he said. The kayaks have single and double-seaters. “Tourists will be armed with proper safety gears and given proper instructions on how to navigate in the water. Kayaking can be enjoyed by even non-swimmers as the ride is at a leisurely pace and is the best way to enjoy the scenery of the place. We also have a rescue boat for use in case of any mishap,” said Balram, the chief water sports instructor. The trial runs for kayaking will go on from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for the next one week. The half-hour rides will cost Rs. 200.

This apart, a 15-seater 120 HP speed boat will be operated at Rushikonda. The trials for it will begin in four days. Livein Adventures have been conducting scuba diving classes at the coast opposite Thotlakonda.
