Rajinikanth or Superstar Rajini or Thalaiva, however you may call him, he’s a man of stories. He has spent his life telling stories while writing a story of his own.

He’s had a very interesting life, one that still remains well preserved from the public eye.

One of the less-talked about legacies of Rajinikanth’s life is his Hollywood debut all the way back in 1988.

Not many people know this but Rajinikanth has worked in Hollywood, thanks to former Indian Tennis Star turned Hollywood Producer Ashok Amritraj.

Bloodstone (1988) was an action-adventure film directed by Dwight H. Little. It’s the story of an American couple who’s on their honeymoon trip to Southern India. The couple somehow get entangled in the treasure hunt of an age old ruby diamond and are helped by their crooked taxi driver, played by Rajinikanth.

Like all Rajinikanth films, it’s difficult to measure Bloodstone in terms of quality. But it has a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.5/10 on IMDb.

The movie however turned out to be a commercial success, thanks to Rajinikanth’s presence in it.

Rajinikanth has been quoted saying he enjoyed getting to work with American actors like Brett Stimely and Anna Nicholas.

28 years after it was released, Bloodstone still remains well preserved in the jungles of cinema.

Watch it if you’re a fan of anything that’s Rajinikanth.
