I don't think both those parts are related though.

Not related directly but the theme is similar..... like the concept of alien invasion....

Yeah man aa director gaadi debut movie anta kooda. He mind f***d the audience all throughout the movie till the ending. You are right, the girl was just a movie representation of the audience and her mind worked exactly like ours.

The twist at the end was too good though, once she gets to see the "rescue" helicopter.

Adhi rescue helicopter kadhu.....last shot lo.....

Its also a invading ship..... Director left us wondering how will she reach Houston (to people who sent message via radio) with such a huge hurdle in between her and destination........is upto audience to imagine.....we dont even know if she reaches or not....

OR

might be a good trail for a third installment.... in the cloverfield series...

Babu adi naaku telusu, why do you think I put that "rescue" in double quotations, it's to imply that that's what the girl thinks throughout the movie till the climax i.e., what the audience think it is as well till it gets closer.

The ending is open ended, like most David Lynch's movies.

American psycho lo Bale performance outstanding, goes one step up higher in The Machinist. A few more mentions:

Memories of Murder(Korean)

The Thing(1982 movie starring Kurt Russell, recently remade in 2011 but not as good as the original)

Blue Velvet(yet another David Lynch movie with a twist ending)

Pi (director of The Black Swan)
