A woman’s grit and determination
Gurgaon resident Urvashi Yadav was living a comfortable life. She was teaching at a nursery school and had several others plans for herself. However, her husband met with an accident that completely changed her fate. With her husband undergoing a hip surgery, the onus of earning money for the family is now borne by Urvashi. And she is carrying out the responsibility pretty well by selling chole kulche. No, it’s not some fancy restaurant, but a roadside thela from where she is selling her freshly made chole kulche. Her culinary skills are coming in handy and she is proud of it. She is now the primary breadwinner for her family.

Her family was not happy but…
Although her in-laws and children were not happy about it, but she went on with her plan as her husband agreed with her. Urvashi told Vagabomb, “ Day one was the toughest and I was very uncomfortable. I covered my face, broke down, but eventually I pulled myself together. I hate to admit it but I was the kind of person who couldn’t live without an AC and I hated the sun in my face. Yet, there I was, standing on the side of the road on a hot summer day, getting chole kulche ready for customers.” Her stall is a hit in Sector 14, Gurgaon. After a Facebook post that got 8870 shares, there are plenty of customers who keep visiting her stall.

Can you expect a woman who lives in a Rs 3 crore house in Gurgaon and owns SUVs selling chole-kulche at a roadside food cart? Well, Urvashi Yadav (34) is doing exactly that and reportedly earning between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3000 a day. A former school teacher has been selling chole-kulche and Paratha from a wooden cart in Gurgaon. She was forced to become street side food seller after her husband met with an accident.
