Telugu industry never got encouraging treatment at the National Film Awards. One can hardly number the Telugu films that recognized by the National Awards jury. When the hopes are out on our films, here comes a breather a cheerful news for Telugu movie lovers.

Film Federation of India has recommended the historical period drama by Gunasekhar, Rudhramadevi in the Oscar race for the category of 'Best Foreign Language Film.' This was confirmed by director Gunasekhar himself. This indeed is a chest swelling in pride moment for the Telugu film industry and film lovers alike.

The film that was released in 2015 is India’s first historical 3D film and depicted the story of queen Rudramadevi, who ruled the Kakatiya kingdom. The film won several awards at the state level. Starring Anushka Shetty in the central lead it has Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati play important cameos.

Congrats Gunasekhar sir, you have done us all proud!
