Each medal costs the UK £5.5 million. That's the sort of investment needed. Let's not expect much until we put systems in place at home.

mari jamaica, kenya are not so rich countries right...but 10,000 m race or 5000 m race was always won be kenyans and 100m, 200,400m relay etc mostly are dominated by u.s or jamaica right..i mean u can say they are goood oonly in atheltics..yes i agree but they have passion and encouragement from govt and citizens..but we 24/7 crciket and no other sports we are interested..

Let India first eradicate poverty. why aim for silly things like medals through govt. funding?

Let the athletes take care of themselves. also this hyper nationalism is not a good thing at all. People should just calm down, and watch awesome athletes display their talent, without getting too bogged down on nationalities.

some really useless sports are added to the Olympics, inflating the medals on offer.

Water polo is one example. There are other sports, like Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, that don't really belong in the Olympics.

All this improves the 'rich' countries' medal tally.
