I'm not debating if its PV Sindhu's Victory is a Proud Indian victory or not.

It's undoubtedly a great Indian victory.

After being proud as an Indian, when I saw people taking about Gopi and Sindhu as Proud Hyderabadi and Proud Telanganite.

I was trying to talk if my state Andhra Pradesh, CM Chandrababu Naidu and Dronacharya Gopichand have anything to do with this.

Its important to remind the Nation on where are they from and whose initiatives have made Gopichand academy a reality making our Nation's Olympic dreams come true.

These Olympians aren't born in a day. They were identified as raw talent, nurtured, trained by the best Master.

Its not Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh or Narendra Modi who created Infrastructure and support system to nurture these talents and make them Indian Olympians, So I wont give credit to the Govt of India here.

It is the effort of Gopichand and his goal to create Olympians from his Academy.

During the Afro Asian and National Games being held in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Naidu was supporting sports in a big way and encouraged many talent.

After Gopichand won All England badminton championships in 2001, Mr.Naidu awarded him with cash price and offered land for the Academy so that he can create more Gopichand likes, which resulted in the Saina Nehwals and PV Sindhu's. Yes, Its a proud Indian Victory, equally proud is it for Andhra Pradesh.

Reddiff news, March 12, 2001:

"Recalling the humble origins of Gopichand, who hails from Prakasam district in the state, the Chief Minister said the badminton player worked for the APSRTC for a while before joining Indian Oil Corporation.

Naidu also complimented the player's Hyderabadi coach K Mohammad Arif and the AP Badminton Academy for their encouragement to the player.

The Chief Minister said the Andhra Pradesh government's decision to award Gopichand Rs 2.5 million is in line with its new sports policy to recognise exceptional performance.

He also offered land and assistance for setting up a world-class badminton academy in Hyderabad"

Later years, When YS Rajashekar Reddy became Chief Minister, he put Gopichand in trouble ordering him to return the Academy Land to the government.

"YSR Reddy, the chief minister of Indian state Andhra Pradesh, has ordered that the land be returned." -The Hindu

Gopichand went to High Court to get a stay order against the government decision to take back his land. He also had to go to YSR to request him from taking the academy land back.

He survived YSR and went back to training bringing us Medals in Olympics 2012 and 2016.

These Medals aren't Luck by Chance. These medal have a story behind them.

These medals are from a journey of a master coach, Dhronacharya award winner Pullela Gopichand, a Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh born who rose up with hard work and the Leader who had a vision to create world class infrastructure to support talents like Saina nehwal and PV Sindhu to get access to the best Coach and Training facility.

Indian Politicians don't invest in sports, as the returns in sports take time, usually the cycle from identifying talent to winning medals is a 10-15 years cycle.

But some coaches dedicated their lives to create talent and some leaders do believe in supporting them for the long term benefit of the Nation. The Investments Andhra Pradesh made in 2001, the hardwork and dedication of Gopichand for the last 15 Years is what has brought India an Olympic Medal.

If we want India to bring more Medals in the future, Indian Leaders and Sportspersons have to come together in setting up such Academies in varied sports and Create talents.

Also, Only If we start investing now, we can expect results in 10-15 Years from now.
