Agitations over Cauvery cost 25000 Cr loss

The rift over Cauvery River not just drew attention of entire nation, it also led to enormous financial and infrastructure loss in both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Ruling out Supreme Court's decision to release 12000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu, protests emerged big in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka. The agitation prevailing in Karnataka has interrupted the normalcy in state and the amount of loss caused due to protests is something to be worried about.

According to a report by Assocham trade association, the reported loss in Karnataka is somewhere between 23,000 - 25000cr -that's a colossal amount right? In every sense, this is extremely worrying the Karnataka government as areas of loss include public transportation, industrial production, shopping malls, restaurants, cinema halls, educational institutions and mainly corporate sector. Even the appeals from political leaders, film actors and celebrities didn't fetch any positive results.

'Whilst we understand and respect their agitation, we're equally disappointed to witness Bangalore in a boiled state,' tells a minister from Karnataka. Considered as biggest IT center in India, Bangalore was one stop for IT firms globally. But, tension around the city triggered a shutdown of business and companies like TCS, Infosys, Flipkart and Amazon express discontent over the activities.

Earlier today, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for centre's intervention to bring back things to routine. On other hand, Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa wrote to Siddaramaiah seeking the protection of Tamilians in Karnataka.
