were IDs checked before or Was army in kashmir in 60s,70s? u know it came after 1989. there is a reason why army came over there. the mistake india did was rigging the 1987 elections in kashmir (thanks to CONGRESS). Since then began islamization project of kashmir. The jamaat e islami over the 30 yrs were successful in brainwashing young kashmiris with salafi islam (i give credit to them for that) and ind govt remained mute spectator of it.

The brainwashing is so much that many young kashmiris don't even know what actually happened to pandits. they think they just left coz governor asked them to.

According to you since pandits are humiliated, now can they retaliate too like pickup guns and start killing kashmiri islamist? stop rationalizing and supporting them that they have right to referendum. That is a hogwash, now all they want is to create an islamic republic of kashmir and they don't have the right to it and it will never happen. NEVER.

Why this history lesson? and all that stupid rhetoric about how better you are than the average Kashmiri. Newsflash: You are not. You are a product of your circumstances, just like they are.

Anyway, the attack happened in their state, and they are being blamed for it (atleast the person I was responding to was hinting at that), when military occupation of their land is equally responsible for creating the current situation.

So according to you, military occupation was the right solution. Except it didn't solve anything. Made it worse. And you are on the internet defending the army, because its the nationalist thing to do?

I live a good life in one of the biggest industrialized western cities, have an extended family of 27, living within 40kms of each other, couple of whom are high ranking govt. officials.

kasmir islamists and pandits are of same area, even pandits faced terrible circumstances (unless you want to deny like most islamists). so why did they not pick the gun?

indian army went to kashmir to control a situation that was getting out of hand. too much military presence is never a good thing but given situation its the best thing. if indian army wasn't there in kashmir by now it would have become IS state and then continue their islamist projects.

I just told the other guy that casual suggestion that Kashmiris let this happen to themselves is unwarranted. What they need is our sympathy mostly. Not our scorn. They are the victims. Not us. Thats all.
