I like Agarkar, but when he was playing in Ranji. Pichha swing chesey vaadu. National team lo antha form choopinchaley. :(

Agarkar was one leading wicket takers in ODIs for India when he was playing for India, in Tests had some decent performances. Although he went for runs was a wicket taker but wasn't swing bowler was seam bowler and was very nippy used to hit 140 Km/hr regularly when in rhythm...

Even now if you see records he is third in all time list for Indian bowlers next to Kumble & Srinath..

Most wickets
Player Span Mat Inns Balls Runs Wkts BBI Ave Econ SR 4 5
A Kumble 1990-2007 269 263 14376 10300 334 6/12 30.83 4.29 43.0 8 2
J Srinath 1991-2003 229 227 11935 8847 315 5/23 28.08 4.44 37.8 7 3
AB Agarkar 1998-2007 191 188 9484 8021 288 6/42 27.85 5.07 32.9 10 2

His strike rate is the best among leading wicket takers...

He was both swing and seam bowler. He was India's best swing bowler when he was at Ranji level at the time he was playing.

He was very good wicket taker in limited overs cricket for India during his playing days almost was a certain pick in ODIs..Even was very good at death overs.

Still nowhere near as good as people expected him to be. May be you forgot the excitement when he started playing for India. He was a sensation in India A matches, picking 5 wickets regularly like it was nothing.

I used to follow domestic cricket a lot. Plenty of memories. What he did in International cricket, everyone knows. But many forgot what a big star he was in the domestic, and how much was expected of him. He didn't live up to his promise.

Off course some may not translate full potential in international cricket who do would be the greats...Although more was expected of him in batting couldn't be as successful as much did in bowling, infact if am right he had triple hundred in his junior days in mumbai...He was one of back bones of Mumbai also Ramesh Powar offie bailed out mumbai numberous times.
